Critically acclaimed Australian folk-pop duo Angus and Julia Stone have released the video for “A Heartbreak” via The New York Times. “A Heartbreak” is taken from the duo’s Rick Rubin-produced third full-length Angus and Julia Stone which is due for release on August 1 via Republic Records.
“A Heartbreak” joins the album’s first official single, “Heart Beats Slow,” and the teaser track “Death Defying Acts,” in providing the perfect introduction to the duo’s unique sound. A hauntingly beautiful track built around a gorgeous melody, “A Heartbreak” juxtaposes soothing harmonies with a heartbreaking lament on lost love, creating a truly emotive and engaging experience for the listener. Expertly produced by Rubin whose organic production approach provides an added sense of warmth to proceedings, “A Heartbreak” is an absolutely stellar song which is taken to another level of intensity when accompanied by the Jesse Hill-directed video. Depicting real young residents of LA partying while the duo played an impromptu house show, the video has a rather celebratory atmosphere that only adds weight to the somber nature of the lyrical reflections.
